Full Immersion

Just over four years ago, I downloaded Mono and began working with ASP.NET on Linux. Around that same time, I started Arc Focus as a .NET consulting firm focused on "developing for a cross-platform future".

In the years since, I've watched Mono grow more interesting each day, from enabling innovation on the Linux desktop with Gtk#, through the release of Windows.Forms, to the latest developments with Moonlight. During that same period, I've had the opportunity to participate in the Mono community in many exciting ways, including contributing to several open source and mixed-platform projects, as well as engaging the larger .NET, Linux, and open source communities.

While I've enjoyed the experience that working with Mono as an independent has brought, I recently was offered the opportunity to make my involvement with Mono more complete by joining Novell. Last week was my first week as the Product Manager for Mono. In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to working with members of the team at Novell, and in the greater Mono community, to help shape the future direction of Mono. If you'd like to discuss where things are going, or share your experiences or opinions, I'd like to hear from you. I'm jhill in #mono and elsewhere on IRC, as well as at novell.com
